Major Public Stamp Auction

Saturday 9th October 2010

commencing 1pm
West Plaza Hotel, Wellington, New Zealand

Welcome to our 19th sale. This annual auction should prove to be the best that we have held as it comprises record pre sale estimates of over NZ $2 million! We are honoured to feature the International Gold Medal collection of Postal Revenues of the late Bruce Alexandre. Bruce will be remembered for his interests in philately as a collector and dealer. This is the most valuable single collection to be offered by auction in New Zealand.

Also being offered is over 100 lots ex a most extensive NZ collection of KGVI/QEII. This collection, comprising errors, rare plate blocks and several unique catalogue listed items, is easily the most comprehensive we have ever offered for auction.

Once again we have a good range of about 250 collections – single country (e.g. Russia) and world to choose from. New Zealand of course has much to interest from collections to over 1,000 Full Face Queens, to stamp designer’s artwork, the unissued 1949 3d HMS Vanguard to Teddy Bear errors, Pigeongrams and beyond. There is an extensive selection of Great Britain ranging from Queen Victoria on. There is a fascinating range of full sheets of NZ and Dependencies from the 1920s/30s, surely a unique offering..

We urge collectors planning to attend this sale not to leave their viewing until the day of the sale as not too many people can view the same item simultaneously – so come on the Friday – or arrange to view prior to 6 October at our premises in Otaki! Like last year’s sale we expect a huge interest with a large number of room bidders. My thanks go to Chris Burtt, Alan Jackson, Maree Malin, Ken Markham, and David Smitham who have produced another great catalogue for our 19th sale, ably assisted by our office staff of Jan, Lyndell, Keren, Arna and David. We look forward to your participation in this sale and wish you well with your bidding.
