David joined Mowbrays in 2015 from a background as an Economist and long-time collector of coins, banknotes and medals and earlier a stamp collector. He has been President of the Royal Numismatic Society of New Zealand since 2006, represents the Society in the Numismatic Association of Australia and is a Fellow of the Society. David’s personal interests include all areas of numismatics, with a particular focus on World and New Zealand coins, trading bank notes, tokens, and military medals. With extensive travel, David has been able to forge many international connections.

John has over 60 years' experience in stamps, founding what is now Mowbray Collectables in 1965. Throughout his career, John has held numerous leadership roles within the philatelic community, including serving as President of both the NZ Stamp Dealers Association and NZ Auctioneers Association.  John is a past president of the International Stamp Dealers Association, and during the 1990’s he served on the Board of Stanley Gibbons, the famous London-based Stamp dealers. John has a most extensive knowledge of worldwide philately and is well known and respected by collectors and dealers around the world.  His passion for stamps is renowned, and his enthusiasm for the hobby remains as strong today as when he first entered the industry.

After leaving school at 16 and working in the finance sector, Liam turned his lifelong passion for coins, banknotes and history into a career by joining Mowbrays in 2021 as a numismatist. He now leads our Numismatic team, is an auctioneer, and became a shareholder in 2025. While he has extensive knowledge across all areas of numismatics, his particular interest is ancient coins.

Chris’s lifetime hobby became his career when starting as an auction lot describer at Mowbrays in 1993. Having a scientific background has led to him becoming the technical expert within the philatelic team. With a broad knowledge of world stamps, he has a deep understanding of New Zealand, British Commonwealth and Pacific philately, especially the classic issues.
