THE JIM SHAW COLLECTION - PART 3

New Zealand Commemoratives, Definitives, Express Delivery, Health, Postage Dues and Overseas Stamps etc

Saturday 22nd September 2018

Commencing at 10.30am
West Plaza Hotel, Wakefield Street, Wellington, New Zealand

Welcome to the third public auction of Jim Shaw's numerous New Zealand collections.  Part 1, held in October 2017, comprised material from Jim's award- winning Stamp Duty and Postage Dues exhibit.  Part 2 held in March 2018 comprised material from some of Jim's other equally noteworthy exhibits, and more from these is offered in Part 3.

Part 3 features some amazing stamp printing errors, such as lots: 2584 (1974 10c Commonwealth Games Cycling); 2594 (2004 Olympic Games se-tenant strip of 5); 2625 (30c Mt Cook National Park with blue sky); and not to be overlooked is lot 2808 a spectacular error of Australia's 1956 1/- Olympic Games stamp.

Postal history is well represented in Part 3, with postage due, registered, airmail, censored and express delivery covers from various parts of Jim's collections and include some interesting destination mails.  Jim also collected proof items, and these may be found in the Christmas, Commemorative, Definitive, Express Delivery, Health and Stamp Duty listings.  There are two more unaccepted essays of the 1965 ANZAC 50th anniversary issue on offer in the centenary year of the end of World War I.

In addition to these, there are some extraordinary single stamps from Jim's New Zealand collections, as well as collections and a few intersting non-New Zealand lots to complete this sale.  All the lots in this sale differ from those offered in the earlier two auctions.

My thanks go to David Smitham who has produced another great catalogue for this sale. We look forward to your participation in this sale and wish you well with your bidding.
