7 NZ WWI 1914-15 Star & Railway Battalion Badge to 4/342 A L/CPL. G. H. McLEAN. N.Z.E.F. George Hugh McLean (1886-1970) enlisted as a Sapper on 11 Aug 1914, was in the Samoan Advance Party from 12 Aug 1914 to 10 March 1915, was promoted to Lance Corporal on 20 Jan 1915, served in Samoa until March 1915, then was discharged, probably being only marginally fit. He had voluntary service on the Reserve roll, the Railway Battalion NZ Engineers & then the Territorials until 1928, rising to Lieutenant. No ribbon. VF $200.00
8 NZ WWI, British War Medal impressed to 8/2145 PTE. E. SYLVIA. N.Z.E.F. Edward Sylvia (1885-1915) enlisted with the Otago Rifles. He was wounded at Chunuk Bair, Gallipoli, died on or about 9 August 1915 & is listed on the Chunuk Bair memorial. AU $1,000.00
9 NZ WWI FAMILY GROUP (3), British War Medal & Victory Medal pair to 2/1756 GNR. C.F.BOWE. N.Z.E.F. Cornelius Frederick Bowe (1888-1917) enlisted in 1915, fought at Gallipoli until the end of the campaign & in France, where he was killed at Messines 5 April 1917; & British War Medal to his brother, 69564 PTE.J.W.BOWE. N.Z.E.F. John William Bowe (1879-1961) enlisted in July 1917 & served at Étaples. He was discharged in Sept 1919. VF - EF $400.00
10 NZ WWI 1914/15 Star, British War Medal & Victory medal Trio (with oak leaf) to 4/1181 CPL. D.D.MCDONALD. N.Z.E.F. Donald Douglas McDonald (1895 - 1950) served in Egypt & France having enlisted as a Sapper on 3 Sept 1915 with the Divisional Signal Company. Promoted to Corporal in the Otago Regiment on 7 April 1916, he suffered a gunshot wound to his wrist in Ypres in 1917 & was discharged unfit on 13 Feb 1918. It is not clear that he is entitled to the MID. VF - aEF $200.00
11 NZ Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officer's Decoration, George V, MYB246 to MAJ. A.W.SHORT. AUCK. RGT (C.R.O), engraved MAJ.A.W.SHORT.AUCK.RGT (C.R.O). Arthur Wilbert Short (1879 - 1970) served as Captain in France until contracting pleurisy in 1917. On discharge, he reverted to school teaching. In 1941 he was appointed Group Director for the no.1 area of the Home Guard. EF $600.00
