Japanese Occupation of Hong Kong 1944 reg'd cover, endorsed "Written in English", with 2s, 5s & 20s Japanese stamps cancelled by Japanese Hong Kong 19.4.14 (= 14 April 1944) steel cds & a Japanese Hong Kong GPO registration label, to Shanghai (under Japanese occupation also). Rear bears a Shanghai 17 June 1944 bilingual cogwheel arrival cancel. Both sender & recipient were (neutral) Swiss nationals & as such were not subject to Japanese internment. Scarce mail from one Japanese occupied territory to another. Incl copy of article by David Smitham.

Unlisted by SG, Scott etc. Each has small MSC expertiser’s/owner’s mark on rear. Note: a similar (75c) stamp, described as being rare, was sold for €220 in a German auction in March 2023.
