Newspaper "The Victoria Times" publ Wellington 15 Sept 1841, issue no 1 (the only issue) of Wellington's 2nd newspaper. Lithograph of hand written text - said to be NZ's first public lithograph. Includes full page map of Wellington Port Nicholson dated 1841 with numbered section & native reserves marked. "Printed & published every Wednesday morning by Thomas Bluett". Multiple folds, with some discolouration & minor tears but superior to example shown online by National Library.

1640 to 1822 7 legal documents: 1) 1640 farming agreement; 2) 1646 Indenture (Peter Boork & William Bamfield ) with 2 attached wax seals; 3) 1687 Indenture (John Wagstaffe & Anihsozo Rodell) with wax seal; 4) 1700 (John Wagstaffe) with 2 embossed 6d "F: & 2 embossed 6d "c" revenues; 5) 1717 Tripart agreement with 2 wax seals; 6) 1801 Indenture (Thomas David Hubley, Joseph Duffell & Richard Leggatt; 7) 21 June 1822 Pardon Document for game hunting signed by King George III (signature approx £350) & Robert Peel. All with painstakingly hand written conditions etc, housed in wooden box. A most attractive lot.

Photography: 3 early daguerrotype portraits, all of British origin: 2 in decorative metal protective frames (man, identified as "Alfred Tozer, Feb 1856", & small girl, very attractive, both tinted; the third, a seated male, has considerable fading of the image & is in a small hinged box with clasps. The earliest successful photographic method. Rare.
