Rear appears to have had a notice (re postage deficiency?) affixed but since removed. QVLT stamp valid for postage until 1913, but postage underpaid by 1d + 1d fine, hence applied h/s.

Unlisted by both SG & CP. Even rarer PU than the 4d, 6d, 8d, 1/- with the same wmk. No price quoted by SG for similar 2/6d to 10/- values with the NZ wmk (SG F10a, F12a, F14a, F15a, F17a, F19c). 1882 £400 rose, 6mm NZ & star wmk (horiz mesh), p11¾. Newly discovered top value, unlisted in Kiwi catalogue. Neat partial fiscal cds cancel (?) (?) 87, with also embossing & 2 foil slits at sides. This is the earliest printing of a £400 denomination (previously not known till the 1888 p12½ printing). The recently recorded £200 value (Kiwi R498B) is cat $1500 punched. To be listed as R500B.
