China 1912 10c Express Mail 10c 1st issue (Chan E8), clear Shanghai cds 6 Nov 1912. Earliest known use of a Republic of China issued stamp excl Imperial Post ovpts. It's discussed in forthcoming article by H James Maxwell in China Clipper. The National Revolution & Founding of Republic commems are variously stated to have been issued on December 14, 15 or 24 1912. The Express Mail stamps are stated in SG, SCott, Chan & Ma to have been issued in 1913 or January 1913. However an example is known dated Dec 27 1912. This example therefore is much the earliest known usage of a Republic of China issued stamp. The stamp itself has light creasing.
