Welcome to our 47th sale. This bi-annual auction comprises 912 lots with estimates over $1.5M.    With our earlier Numismatic Auction, these sales are a record offering.

Highlights include:

• Lot 1 – The 4d Taupo inverted centre, estimate $250,000.  Offered on behalf of NZ Post at 11.30am NZ time.
• Amazing Postal History (about 50 lots) and FFQs (about 170 lots including 2 SG 1s - lot 336 & 337) and many scarce experimental separations.  The majority from the estate of John Gahagan of Napier.
• The first part of Iain Luton’s collection of Great Britain featuring many 1d Blacks including lot 786 with over 300 1d Blacks, estimate $20,000.
• 250+ World collections including over 50 New Zealand.
• Over 430 New Zealand lots including 1d Claret Christchurch Exhibition (lot 618) and 35/- Arms (lot 705).
• Over 100 Great Britain lots, nearly all ex Iain Luton.
• Ross Marshall’s 1980s Australia 1d GV Heads collection.

It is indeed It is indeed a privilege to offer the unique 4d Taupo invert from NZ Post plus the estates of John Gahagan and Iain Luton, as well as our 135+ other vendors (acknowledgements of John and Iain are overleaf).

Overseas bidders please note that the mails are very slow.  Please send your bids to us by email, via the website, fax or phone.  Live online bidding through the course of the auction is available.

Viewing in Wellington is available on Friday 19th September, and Saturday morning prior to the auction; or until Wednesday 17th September at our premises in Otaki.  We are only 50 minutes from Wellington Airport and ten minutes from Waikanae commuter railway station.  We can pick you up from either (by appointment only).

 INSPECTION OF LOTS
At the premises of Mowbray Collectables, Main Highway, Otaki, by appointment until Wednesday 17th September, during normal office hours;
at the West Plaza Hotel, Wellington: Friday 19th September - 9am till 5.30pm, and Saturday 20th September prior to the Auction - from 9am.

BIDDING

Bids can be placed live during the auction via our live bidding platform.  
Otherwise by mail, phone, fax or email - such bids should be received by us no later than 8am NZ time (GMT + 12 hours) Saturday 20th September (at your risk if not received in time).
Due to mail delays, please send bids by email, phone, fax or via the website.
Phone bidding may be made during the auction by prior arrangement only; please make early contact. Total $1,000 minimum in bids applies.

BUYERS PREMIUM
Buyers Premium of 17% (plus GST on buyers premium for NZ buyers) will be added to the hammer price of each lot.  (All buyers please note: no GST will be added to the hammer price of lots).

BIDS UNDER 70% OF ESTIMATE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED as this is the reserve on all lots. No vendor bids shall be accepted.
